Model Railroader Magazine, August 1979
Rail
Canada Volume 3, by Donald C. Lewis, provides comprehensive data on the paint jobs applied
to all Canadian Pacific diesel locomotives. Like the other two books in the series, this
one has a series of small diagrams that show the placement of all lettering and striping
or color changes on the locomotives. Actual dimensions are specified so the information
can be translated easily into any scale.
The book is divided into four major groupings: cab units are first, road freight units
are second, road switchers are third, and yard switchers are last. Many of the diagrams
also have accompanying photos; a (16 page) full color section in the middle of the book
provides some good color references.
The printing quality is good, although some of the photos tend to be a little on the
muddy side. This is probably due to to reproducing them from what was originally a color
slide.
This book will be invaluable to anyone modeling CP equipment of the diesel era. It has
160 pages, 8.5" x 11", (including an index arranged by railroad unit numbers).
